The New Book, “The Great Awakening” by Author Jerry Scrivo Shares the Miraculous Rise of Christianity in the First Century And the Battle That Made It Possible
The Great Awakening
This is a historical look at the first 100 years of the Christian Church on earth. It shows how improbable the rise of Christianity was when looked at from a human perspective. Nothing in the human experience would support this outcome given the circumstances in which it occurred.

Reviews
I enjoyed reading your book “The Great Awakening” and it was very interesting and informative. You must have spent an enormous amount of time and work researching all the references and organizing the enormous amount of material. Your specific dates of the first century events were very new to me. It filled in a lot of things I didn’t know.

Google Book Review
When I previewed The Great Awakening: How GOD Reclaimed His Creation, what immediately stood out was how you capture the extraordinary rise of Christianity during its earliest and most uncertain years. The way you frame the first century as not only a historical turning point but a spiritual battle between good and evil gives the narrative both power and purpose. It’s more than a retelling of early Church history; it’s a reminder of divine intervention shaping human destiny.
What makes this book so compelling is how it blends careful historical insight with spiritual truth. You bring readers into the struggles of the first disciples, ordinary men who, through faith, transformed the world against all odds. The theme of God working through human weakness to accomplish His plan is one that deeply resonates with believers seeking to understand how divine purpose unfolds in history.
This is exactly the kind of story that resonates with Readers of Christian history and biblical commentary. Those interested in the origins and spread of the early Church Believers who find inspiration in the battle between good and evil. Readers of books like The Case for Christ, God’s Battalions, and historical works exploring faith in action.
There is a dedicated community of faith-based readers who seek books that strengthen understanding while deepening belief. The Great Awakening offers them both, a historical account that reaffirms God’s sovereignty and the unstoppable power of the gospel.

A Must-Read Book
The bible was written over 2000 years ago to record and proclaim the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ. There was no need for detailed historical context because authors and readers were all living in the context!
Now believers and unbelievers have a huge scientific, historical and cultural contextual basis on which to draw. Using it helps us to answer questions out of the scriptures.
Ten contextual questions which are answered in this book are listed below.
- Why is the earth only 4 billion years old when the universe has been around for 13 billion years?
- Why didn’t humans appear on earth until 6000 years ago?
- How could eleven simple leaderless workmen spread Christianity after Christ left them?
- How soon after Pentecost did Christianity spread beyond Judea?
- What enabled Christianity to flourish in the face of brutal persecution by both Jews and Romans?
- How could Christianity continue after most of the apostles had died?
- When missionary journeys ceased, how did Christianity continue to spread?
- Why didn’t Christianity die out after the Apostolic age? It only amounted to less than .5% of the population then.
- Did God actively intervene to enable Christianity to survive in the 200 years after the apostolic age?
- How and why did the Roman empire turn to Christianity as the state religion three hundred years after Jesus’ life?
